The Sheka Forest Story shows the power of collaboration.
The Sheka forest is one of Ethiopia's largest and last remaining tropical forests. Clan leaders, the local community and the local government have come together with the support of local partner, Melca Ethiopia, to help secure the future of the forest, its rich bio-cultural diversity and to enhance sustainable livelihood options.
Reviving our Culture, Mapping our Future documents an eco-cultural mapping process which took place in Venda, South Africa with ABN partner the Mupo Foundation in 2009.
The film tells the story of a special gathering of indigenous leaders from Venda, Altai (Russia) and the Colombian Amazon, alongside a number of ABN partners looking to learn the mapping process as a means of working with their own community.
Here, the people of Venda map their territory and their sacred sites in order to help them to protect their rights to their ancient land.
The Kamburu Story - A Community-led Response to Climate Change shares the experience of the ABN's Kenyan partner, The Institute of Culture & Ecology (ICE), as they work with the Kamburu community of central Kenya.
The film shows how the community have come together to reclaim control of their food system, and in doing so, become healthier, more united and more resilient to climate change.
