The Kamburu Story
The Kamburu Story - A Community-led Response to Climate Change shares the experience of the ABN's Kenyan partner, The Institute of Culture & Ecology (ICE), as they work with the Kamburu community of central Kenya.
The film shows how the community have come together to reclaim control of their food system, and in doing so, become healthier, more united and more resilient to climate change.
Working with ICE, the community has re-learnt traditional organic farming methods such as composting and using nature manure fertilisers. They have also improved the biodiversity of the area by reviving their indigenous seeds, ensuring that the crop varieties they grow are locally adapted and varied.
The programme has been community-led, in recognition that the agricultural knowledge needed for food sovereignty lies right here within the community.
