Envirocare
Envirocare was founded in 1993 and so brings to the ABN extensive experience of implementing development programmes aimed at improving environmental conservation and ensuring equitable sharing of the natural resources that most Tanzanians depend on for their livelihoods.
Envirocare's focus has been on integrating human rights issues, particularly with a gender perspective as issues of land and inheritance rights are critical for women to benefit equally and participate fully in community affairs.
As part of environmental conservation, Envirocare has worked to enhance and increase agricultural production through the promotion of organic farming and improved farming methods. Tree-planting is promoted at household level and community level through Participatory forest management.
Civic education and economic empowerment with youth and vulnerable groups has been carried out with considerable impact.
Envirocare has also played a significant role in educating children and youth on HIV/Aids and advocates for removal of communication barriers between children and parents, students and teachers.
Envirocare are working towards a future where there is no hunger, where there is social justice and where our land, water and air is protected.
