ICE - Kamburu one year on

In September 2009 the ABN commissioned a filmmaker to visit the Kamburu community in central Kenya. ABN partner the Institute for Culture and Ecology had been working with this community for two years to revive their traditional knowledge and practices for ecological agriculture. You can view the film, The Kamburu Story, here. 

One year later, we return to the community to see how the momentum towards food sovereignty has continued for this community and their neighbours.


Gladys leads the Women's Farmer Group and is one of the next generation who are feeling positive and empowered about the changes
Sam promotes indigenous seeds to whoever he meets, he wants to restore the land to how it was many years ago.
The Kamburu community are proud of what they have achieved; improved health from growing organically, and a real sense of unity.
