During the ABN's Coordinator recent visit to the UK he was interviewed by BBC World Today as part of their coverage in the lead up to Durban COP17. Gathuru Mburu tells listeners about the importance of indigenous knowledge in Africa and globally, within the context of climate change and food crisis. He explains the importance of the African Biodiversity Network's work at the local level, bringing back traditional seed diversity and related knowledge, and building the confidence and resilience of local communities in Africa. Livestock Initiative restores land, water in Zimbabwe
Communities in Zimbabwe report increased suffering thanks to water shortages and land degradation in recent years. Invoking alternative solutions, ABN Partner, African Centre for Holistic Management, is training residents and other nonprofit organizations to use livestock to restore land and natural water sources.
